Avocado Obsession Case Study

Learning Experience Project

Animation

I've spent my career as an ID finding ways to create meaningful visual aids to help learners grasp complex concepts. This has lead to an obsession with animation and how it can interplay with interaction. The goal of this case study was to use as little text as possible during an instruction of how to grow an avocado.

Animation & Interaction

Standard drag and drops can be redundant and boring. Out of the box interactions provided by Captivate and Storyline are limited, so I created my own interaction that can be integrated into with these programs by utilizing their API's. I programmed this interaction to trigger an animation when the drag item is dropped on a target.

Fruit or Veggie?

Often times we need learners to compare and contrast an idea. Drag and drops are an effective, engaging way to accomplish this. However, Captivate and Storyline do not provide an easy way to have one drag target to be the same answer for multiple drops. Using Adobe Animate Canvas and the CreateJS javascript library, I created a reusable template that can be inserted into a Captivate or Storyline project and exported as SCORM package.
